The Durvela 304 Stainless Steel Thermowell provides a durable, sealed housing for the temperature sensor used with the Durvela Solar Aeration Kit. It allows the fan system’s sensor to measure compost temperature while protecting it from moisture, corrosive gases, organic acids, and direct contact with compost.

Manufactured from corrosion-resistant 316L stainless steel, the thermowell features a standard 1.5-inch Tri-Clamp sanitary connection, a 220 mm insertion length, and a 7 mm internal bore. The upper 1/2-inch NPT female connection provides a secure entry point for the sensor cord grip used by the aeration system.

Designed for the Durvela Solar Aeration Kit

The thermowell is designed to receive the dedicated temperature sensor supplied with the Durvela Solar Aeration Kit. As compost temperature changes, the protected sensor allows the aeration system to control fan operation without exposing the sensor directly to the composting environment.

Because the sensor is removable, it can be inspected, serviced, or replaced without removing the thermowell from the composter.

Why Use a Thermowell?

A temperature sensor placed directly in compost can be damaged by moisture, physical movement, organic acids, and corrosive vapours. The thermowell creates a protective stainless steel barrier between the sensor and the compost while still allowing heat to transfer to the sensor.

This helps extend sensor life, keeps the sensor clean, and makes maintenance or replacement considerably easier.
