A more controlled composting process
Add food scraps together with the recommended dry, carbon-rich materials, maintain appropriate moisture, and rotate the drum regularly. Insulation helps retain biologically generated heat, while mixing and aeration help distribute moisture and oxygen throughout larger compost loads.
Common inputs include fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, tea leaves, eggshells, garden trimmings, dry leaves, shredded cardboard, sawdust, and suitable wood pellets. Finished compost output and processing time vary with feedstock, carbon balance, moisture, temperature, particle size, loading frequency, and management.
