Start with the combined weekly weight of food scraps, garden material and the dry carbon material needed to balance the mix. Then choose a model that gives you comfortable operating room rather than relying on the drum’s maximum volume.

Which model is best for a typical household?

The Durvela 300 offers the most practical balance for many households, especially active home cooks and gardeners. Smaller households or constrained sites may prefer the Durvela 120.

Should I choose based on drum capacity alone?

No. Base the decision on weekly input weight, the carbon material required, operating headroom, available space and the quantity of finished compost you want.

What foundation does the composter need?

Install on a flat, level surface that will not sink and can support the composter’s loaded mass. A solid foundation such as a concrete pad or paving stones is recommended for the Durvela 300 and larger systems.

Why does the unloading end need sunlight?

The optional solar aeration kit attaches to the unloading end. Facing that end toward the strongest available sunshine helps the solar panel power the fan and maintain airflow.

Are Durvela composters delivered assembled?

Durvela composters come pre-assembled. The customer is responsible for suitable unloading equipment, site access and a prepared foundation unless other arrangements are confirmed.
